FAQ's

  • Why is spray foam bad for my roof?

Spray foam is a type of plastic, which, when sprayed directly onto your roof’s woodwork, acts as an air barrier trapping any moisture inside the wood, particularly when the only remaining clean face of the timber is the side which is facing upwards towards the backs of the roof tiles. Condensation gets into the wood (because wood is essentially a big sponge) and is unable to dry itself out again due to lack of airflow in the loft, this causes the wood to rot and because its all covered in foam, you can’t see that it’s even happening.

  • How do I tell which type I have?

There are two main types of foam, Open Cell, and Closed Cell. Open Cell is soft and squishy, you could squash a piece the size of a football down to the size of a tennis ball with ease and is easy to remove. Closed Cell is just the opposite, its tough, rigid, and cannot be squashed, it is very dense and difficult to remove.

  • How bad is spray foam?

In a nutshell, its quite bad and it does need to come out. Closed Cell in particular, has no room for airflow, it is the worst for trapping moisture in the woodwork. Open Cell however, is much more breathable, it is very rare that we have seen cases of timber decay from Open Cell, and any cases we have seen have been very minor, the main issue is the banks won’t lend on it.

  • Will I need a new roof?

Probably not! Since starting LoftEaze in Spring 2022, we have only seen 1 case of a house needing a completely new roof! The majority of the time the roof is still in perfect working order, with only 10% of our jobs requiring some repair work to the rafters and/or tile batons.

  • Does LoftEaze repair any damaged areas of my roof?

Yes, we do! We have in-house carpenters who have saved the customers hundreds of pounds in contractor's fees by repairing the roofs for them. With one of the main directors having 10 years of joinery experience.

  • Is LoftEaze insured?

Yes! We can proudly say that we at LoftEaze are fully insured specifically for Spray Foam Removal and working in your loft!

  • Can I get any money back?

There is a possibility of getting your money back yes! If you have the original paperwork for the spray foam fitting, and you paid at least £100 on credit card towards either the deposit or final invoice for the fitting of the Spray Foam, then there is a possible claim which can be made providing you hit certain criteria. One of our staff will ask you about this on the day of surveying.

  • Does LoftEaze offer a payment plan?

Unfortunately not as of yet, however we are in the process of making this an option.

  • When is payment due?

Payment is always due on the final day of completion, we shall submit to you the final invoice on the 2nd to last day of the work. Payment can be made via bank transfer, payment link, or card machine on site by one of our staff.

  • Does LoftEaze provide us with a completion statement at the end?

Yes of course! It is an essential document which is required for the sale of your house after the foam has been removed.

  • Does LoftEaze offer a guarantee?

Yes LoftEaze will guarantee their work for 5 years after the final day of completion, should any problems arise as to why a house sale didn’t go through, or a mortgage application declined, we will make it our main priority to rectify this, however we are still yet to have a mortgage application decline from our works.

  • What areas does LoftEaze cover?

LoftEaze are proud to say we cover all of the UK! We are based in Southampton, but rarely see any jobs local to us! As a result you may see our vans anywhere up as far as in Scotland, and we even cover Northern Ireland and have completed jobs over there!
